Your data, your privacy
Privacy policy
Theologia Reformata rigorously respects your privacy and applies the principles of the European GDPR and the Swiss FADP.
Fundamental principles
Theologia Reformata is designed as a privacy-respecting pedagogical resource. Our guiding principle: collect as little data as possible, collect none without your explicit consent, and never share it with third parties.
The site complies with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP), which came into force on 1 September 2023.
Data controller
The controller of the personal data collected through this site is:
KMN, self-publisher of Theologia Reformata.
Contact for any data-protection question: contact@theologia-reformata.ch
Data collected through the contact form
When you use our contact form, we collect the following data:
- Surname and first name (required) — to personalise our reply
- Email address (required) — so that we can reply to you
- Subject of the message — to help sort enquiries
- Content of the message — the substance of your enquiry
Purpose: to handle your enquiry and provide a personal reply.
Legal basis: your explicit consent (the GDPR checkbox) and our legitimate interest in being able to answer users’ questions.
Retention period: 24 months from the last exchange, then automatic deletion unless you explicitly request longer retention.
Sole recipient: KMN, the publisher of the site. Messages are never passed to third parties, never used for commercial purposes and never added to a mailing list without your express request.
Data collected through the registration form
The (optional) registration form collects further data in order to personalise your learning pathway:
- Country / canton, approximate year of birth, level of study
- Theological interests (checkboxes)
- Preferred pace of study and language
- A brief statement of motivation (250 characters max.)
This data is stored solely in your browser (localStorage) and is never transmitted to a server. It is accessible only to you, on the device you are using. If you change device or clear your browser data, this information is lost.
The author of the site has no access to any of this data.
Technical data (server logs)
As with all websites, our host Infomaniak keeps technical logs of server requests. These logs contain:
- IP address (anonymised after processing)
- Date and time of the request
- Page requested and HTTP response code
- Browser and operating system (user agent)
These logs are used exclusively for technical purposes (security, aggregate statistics, incident resolution). They are never cross-referenced with other data and do not permit your personal identification.
Retention period at Infomaniak: in accordance with Swiss legal obligations (generally six months).
Cookies
Theologia Reformata uses a minimal number of strictly necessary technical cookies for the operation of the site.
- Functional cookies: language preferences, position in the pathway, display settings. Stored in your browser’s localStorage and sessionStorage.
- No advertising, marketing or third-party tracking cookies are used.
- No cookie is shared with external sites or advertisers.
You may delete these cookies at any time from your browser settings. Doing so will reset your progress and preferences but will not prevent use of the site.
Third-party tools
The site uses an extremely small number of third-party services, chosen for their GDPR compliance:
- Anthropic (Claude) — only if you personally configure your own API key to use Professor Tryphon’s connected mode. Your exchanges are then sent to Anthropic under their own terms. The author of the site has no access to any of these exchanges.
- Google Fonts — possibly used for typography. Where present, they are loaded in privacy-friendly mode (without user cookies).
No other third-party service (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.) is used.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the revised Swiss FADP, you have the following rights regarding your data:
- Right of access: to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed and to receive a copy of it
- Right to rectification: to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure (right to be forgotten): to request deletion of your data
- Right to portability: to receive your data in a structured format
- Right to object and to restriction: to limit certain processing
- Right to withdraw consent at any time
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (the FDPIC in Switzerland, the CNIL in France, or other national authorities depending on your country)
To exercise one of these rights, write to: contact@theologia-reformata.ch, putting “Exercise of GDPR right” in the subject line.
Response time: one month at most from receipt of your request.
Data security
Data collected through the contact form is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection. It is stored on the author’s servers (an Infomaniak mailbox) and protected by a strong password and two-factor authentication.
No access to this data is granted to any third party without your explicit consent or a legal obligation.
Minors
Theologia Reformata is intended for an adult readership but may be used by minors in a school or parish setting. No data is collected by default. If a minor wishes to use the contact form, parental consent is required (an explicit checkbox, under the user’s responsibility).
