Last book of the New Testament — Christian apocalyptic written ca. 95 AD under Emperor Domitian. Prophetic vision of Christ's reign and eschatological victory.
General Introduction
The Revelation (Apokalypsis Iōannou) closes the canon of the New Testament. Its title means « unveiling ». It is the only New Testament book of the apocalyptic genre, in the Jewish tradition (Daniel, 1 Enoch, 4 Ezra, 2 Baruch).
Seven Churches of Asia
Addressed to seven churches of Asia Minor (Rev 1:4, 11) : Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea. The seven letters (ch. 2–3) provide pastoral diagnostics for each church.
